The skateboarding games worth installing on your iPhone, from finger-physics sims to Apple Arcade gems.
Skateboarding works surprisingly well on a touch screen. Your fingers can be your feet (True Skate, Touchgrind), or your thumbs can be the buttons of an arcade game (Skate City, Skateboard Party). Here are the best skate games for iPhone and iPad in 2026, checked against the App Store in October 2026: what each one is like, and how it makes money, because on mobile that matters.
The best skate games on iPhone
1True Skate
- Developer: True Axis
- Since: 2012
- Price: Paid ($1.99 at the time of writing) + in-app purchases
The realistic one. You control the board with two fingers as if they were your feet: flick the tail to pop, swipe to flip, drag onto a ledge to grind. There is no auto-pilot, and that is the point. Extra parks, including real-world spots and SLS courses, are sold in the app, and a replay editor makes it easy to film your lines.
Best for: anyone who wants real skate physics on a phone.
2True Skate+
- Developer: True Axis
- Since: 2025
- Price: Apple Arcade (no ads, no in-app purchases)
The Apple Arcade edition of True Skate. Same controls, with real parks to unlock by playing instead of paying, live events, a DIY park mode and controller support.
Best for: Apple Arcade subscribers who want True Skate with everything in.
3Touchgrind Skate 2
- Developer: Illusion Labs
- Since: 2013
- Price: Free + in-app purchases
Your two fingers are the skater's legs, like a fingerboard. It takes a few minutes to click, then it is very satisfying. Hundreds of challenges and a turn-based game of S.K.A.T.E. against friends keep it going. (Illusion Labs' newer Touchgrind games are BMX and scooter, not skateboarding.)
Best for: fingerboard fans and quick sessions.
4Skate City
- Developer: Agens and Room8 / Snowman
- Since: 2019
- Price: Apple Arcade
A relaxed, side-on street skating game from the makers of Alto's Adventure. Two thumbs, tricks on swipes, chill music and cities to cruise. One of the best-looking skate games on a phone.
Best for: calm, stylish sessions.
5Skate City: New York
- Developer: Snowman
- Since: 2024
- Price: Apple Arcade
The open-world follow-up: skate New York, including the High Line, in full 3D. Missions, spots to find and the same easy-going feel.
Best for: exploring a city on a board.
6Skateboard Party 3
- Developer: Do More Mobile (originally Ratrod Studio)
- Since: 2016
- Price: Free + in-app purchases
An arcade 3D skate game with pro skater Greg Lutzka, a career mode and eight locations. More Tony Hawk than True Skate: buttons and swipes for tricks, big combos. The full version is an in-app unlock.
Best for: an arcade 3D skate game on mobile.
7Skate Jam - Pro Skateboarding
- Developer: Do More Mobile (originally Maple Media)
- Since: 2018
- Price: Free + in-app purchases and a subscription pass
Released as Tony Hawk's Skate Jam, Tony Hawk's first mobile-only game. A career mode, unlockable gear and global tournaments. Note the monetisation: a monthly pass and in-app purchases.
Best for: Tony Hawk-style tricks and tournaments on the go.
8Skate Space
- Developer: DRSV
- Price: Free + in-app purchases (ads can be removed)
The social one: online sessions with up to ten skaters, 3v3 battles, a park builder and a video editor. A good pick if you want to skate with other people.
Best for: multiplayer.
Coming soon: TinySkate OUR GAME
- Developer: Rick-y Media AB (us)
- Price: Free, no ads; optional TinySkate Pro $4.99 one-time
- Status: Coming soon to iPhone; playable in your browser now
A 2D pixel-art arcade skate game built for two thumbs: the left thumb pumps and balances, the right thumb pops and flicks. Nine spots, three goals each, global leaderboards, and no ads at all. On iPhone, an optional one-time TinySkate Pro unlocks every spot right away. Disclosure: we make it, so it is not ranked.
It is not on the App Store yet, but the same game runs in Safari: open tinyskate.com on your iPhone and tap to skate.
