PRIVACY POLICY
Last updated: 19 October 2026
TinySkate (the iPhone app and the web version at www.tinyskate.com) is made by Rick-y Media AB, Sweden. We built it to be played, not to watch you play. This page explains, in plain words, what happens with your data.
THE SHORT VERSION
- No ads. Nothing is sold or shared, and nothing is used for advertising or to track you.
- The game sends anonymous gameplay events (which spots you play, scores, finished runs) so we can make it better.
- Your progress lives on your device (and in your own iCloud on iPhone).
- For the leaderboards we store your skater nickname, a random device ID and your scores. That's it.
WHAT IS STORED, AND WHERE
Progress (iPhone): your best scores, stars, XP and nickname are saved on your device. If iCloud is turned on, the game also keeps a copy in your own iCloud account (Apple's iCloud key-value storage) so your progress follows you to a new phone. That copy is stored by Apple under your Apple Account; we cannot see it.
Progress (web): saved in your browser's local storage on your device. Clearing your browser data removes it.
Purchases: in-app purchases are handled by Apple. We never see your name, email or payment details; the game only learns from Apple which items your account owns, so it can unlock them.
GAMEPLAY STATISTICS
To learn which spots are too hard, what people enjoy and where the game can get better, the iPhone app and the web game send small gameplay events to our own server: for example that a run started or finished on a spot, the score and how long it took, a bail, a goal reached, a spot unlocked, a menu page opened, or that a purchase was started (never payment details). Each event carries the same random device ID the leaderboards use, the platform (iPhone or web) and the game version. There is no name, email, location, advertising ID or IP address in these events; our server sees your IP address only for a moment to stop abuse and does not store it with them. The events are only used by us, in aggregate, are never sold or shared, and are deleted after 13 months.
THIS WEB SITE
www.tinyskate.com uses DataFast (datafa.st), a privacy-friendly web analytics service, to count visits and see which pages are popular (for example the page you came from, your browser and country). It is not used for advertising, and it is only on the web site, not inside the game or the iPhone app.
LEADERBOARDS
To play you choose a skater nickname. When you finish a run, the game sends to our server: your nickname, a random ID created on your device (not linked to your Apple Account, phone number or email), the spot, your score, the game version, the platform (iPhone or web) and a recording of the run's button presses, which we replay on our server to make sure the score is real. We use this only to show the leaderboards, in the game and on www.tinyskate.com, and to stop cheating. Your nickname and scores are public on the leaderboards, so don't use your real name if you'd rather not. Nicknames are filtered for bad words and we may remove offensive ones.
Our server also sees your IP address when the game talks to it. We use it only briefly to limit abuse (rate limiting) and don't store it with your scores. Our hosting's technical logs may contain IP addresses and are deleted within 30 days.
The leaderboard server runs on our own servers in the EU.
WHY WE MAY PROCESS IT (GDPR)
Rick-y Media AB is the data controller. We process leaderboard data and the gameplay statistics on the basis of our legitimate interest in running fair, public leaderboards that you choose to take part in, and in improving the game (GDPR article 6.1 f). We keep leaderboard entries for as long as the leaderboards exist, or until you ask us to delete them.
YOUR RIGHTS
You can ask us what we store about your device ID, ask us to correct or delete it (we'll remove your nickname and scores), or object to the processing. Email us from the game's settings or write to the address below and include your nickname. You can also complain to the Swedish Authority for Privacy Protection (IMY, www.imy.se).
CHILDREN
TinySkate is rated 4+ and suitable for all ages. We don't ask for names, emails, ages or any contact details, and we don't knowingly collect personal information from children beyond a self-chosen nickname and scores. Parents can ask us to delete a nickname and its scores at any time.
CHANGES
If this policy changes, we'll update this page and the date above.
