Schoolyard: TinySkate Spot Guide

Stairs, handrails, a big gap and that cop car.

The Schoolyard is the second spot and the first street spot: up on the school terrace, down an eight-step stair set with a handrail, past benches, a hydrant and a picnic table, up a ramp to the upper yard and over the big gap. Then there is the police car. You can ollie onto it and grind the trunk, the roof and the hood while the light bar flashes.

The three goals

Every TinySkate spot has three goals. Each goal you complete earns a star, and stars unlock the next spot. Schoolyard is spot 2 of 9 and unlocks at 2 stars.

• SCORE 2500Reach 2,500 points in one run.
• GRIND 3 SECONDS STRAIGHTStay on one rail for three seconds without falling off.
• CLEAR THE BIG GAPJump the gap between the yard's two levels and land it.

What's in the spot

• The stairs. Ollie the eight-stair or grind the handrail over it. The rail is the better points.
• Benches and the picnic table. Short grinds and manual pads to keep a combo going.
• The big gap. Pump for speed on the way up, then pop on green at the lip.
• The cop car. Ollie onto it and grind it. Yes, really.
• The long fence rail and the second stairs. The best place in the spot for the three-second grind.

Tips

• For GRIND 3 SECONDS STRAIGHT, use the long fence rail and stay in a 50-50: it is the steadiest grind. Tap the pump button to correct your balance when the needle over your head leans.
• The gap needs speed. Chain PERFECT pumps (x2, x3, x4) on the way up and charge a full MAX POP right at the lip.
• The cop car is a points magnet: land on it in a grind, flick to switch to a boardslide or 5-0, and ollie off into a flip.
